Broken Heart
How do you recover from a broken heart? I say listen to
some sad tunes and cry it all out. Here are some dark tunes about love
and loss.
Sarah Mclachlan – Fumbling
Toward Ecstasy – Is about sadness, solitude, love,
abuse, obsession and pain. This CD is dark be sure to listen and let
out all your tears. Check out “Hold On”.
Dido – No
Angel – Her voice is hauntingly beautiful and her
lyrics are poetry. This woman knows about love, loss and hopelessness.
Check out “My Lover’s Gone”, “Don’t Think
of Me” and “Slide”. This CD has been my companion
thru many of my breakups. “Take My Hand” is exquisite.
Bridget Jones – Bridget
Jones’s Diary – Great soundtrack to the Bridget
Jones movie. “All By Myself” and “Out of Reach”
seem to fit the bill when I am feeling blue.
Alanis Morissette – Jagged
Little Pill – Raw emotions of hurt and pain. It’s
the perfect soundtrack for screaming out your anger and frustration.
Carole King – Tapestry
– A timeless work which merits listening to again and again. My
personal favorites “It’s too Late” and “So Far
Away”
Madeleine Peyroux – Careless
Love – She has a gorgeous voice smoky, silky, rich,
and haunting set to classic jazz music. The songs are filled with hope,
longing, loss, joy, love and life. “Dance Me To the End of Love”
says we should savor our time on earth because life is short and “Weary
Blues” is a song that perfectly conveys the loneliness one feels
when waiting for a loved one to return to them.
Joni Mitchell – Blue
– The name of the CD says it all, the songs are about love, loss
and regret. Joni Mitchell has the ability to write lyrics that are both
personal and moving, her style is acoustic folk. Check out “Blue”
and “River” which are sad break up songs.
